Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday recommended appointment of six Additional Judges for the Peshawar High Court.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry chaired the meeting of the commission that made the recommendations. The commission recommended names of Khalid Mahmood, Fazal Haq Abbasi, Nasir Hussain Khan, Waqar Ahmed Shah, Qaiser Rasheed and Malik Azmatullah to be appointed as Additional Judges of the PHC.
The Judicial Commission, the highest forum in the country, has been functional to make appointments to superior judiciary under the 18th Amendment.
Other members of the commission who attended the meeting were Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Attorney General Molvi Anwarul Haq, Minister for Law and Justice Maula Bux Chandio, Pakistan Bar Council member Dr Khalid Ranjha and Justice (Retd) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry.
All the four chief justices of the high courts including Chief Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Chief Justice Sindh High Court Mushir Alam, Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa have also been a part of the Commission.
