Petra Kvitova defeated Maria Sharapova on Saturday to lift women’s Wimbeldon trophy, her first grand slam title. The Czech girl beat the 2004 Wimbeldon champion 6-4, 6-3.
The 21-year-old girl is the first left-handed woman player to win the title since 1990.
“It’s hard to find some words if I’m standing here with the trophy,” she said after winning.
Former tennis great Navratilova called her “a new star”.
