Quetta: Unidentified gunmen abducted a Swiss couple in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Friday, local police said.
According to the police the couple was kidnapped near the Loralai district of Balochistan. The couple entered the province around 5:00 p.m. (1200 GMT) and registered themselves as husband and wife at a police checkpoint, the police added.
The vehicle of the couple was found abandoned near Minara near Loarali, said a native of the area.
Baloch nationalists have for decades been campaigning for autonomy and control of its resources, arguing that few of the profits are spent in the province. There have been incidents of kidnapping in Pakistan over the past few years, especially in the northwest in areas on the border with Afghanistan.
