Faisalabad: Rawalpindi Rams won the sensational final of the Faisal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Tournament by defeating Karachi Dolphins by 9 runs in the super over at Iqbal Stadium on Friday.
By batting first in the super over, Rawalpindi Rams scored 16 runs and set a target of 17 runs for Karachi Dolphins.
Awais Zia scored all 16 runs.
While Karachi Dolphins managed to score only seven runs in the super over.
At the end, Rawalpindi Rams won the match by nine runs.
Earlier in the tie match, Rawalpindi Rams’ captain Sohail Tanvir won the toss and chose to field first. Karachi Dolphins scored 184 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Ramiz Raja (Junior) scored 64 runs while Asad Shafiq and Khalid Latif scored 36 runs each. Shahzaib Hasan scored 12 runs while Sarfraz Ahmed scored 3 runs.
Raza Hasan was the only successful bowler of Rawalpindi Rams who picked up three wickets while two batsmen were run out.
From Rawalpindi Rams, Awais Zia scored 43 runs while Umer Ameen scored 32 runs not out. Adnan Mufti and Hammad Azam scored 31 and 23 runs respectively, while Mohammad Rameez scored 14 runs.
Sohail Khan grabbed five wickets while Azam Hussain took two wickets. Tanvir Ahmed, Mohammad Sami and Haaris Ayaz shared one wicket each.
Sohail Kahn was declared man of the match and bowler of the tournament.
Rameez Raja (Junior) was declared player of the tournament.
