Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Ejaz Butt, has said that taking U-turns over policies was not his forte, while he would not hesitate to take more u-turns in interest of the game.
Admitting his any wrong decisions in an interview granted to a private Pakistani TV channel, Butt said that it was easy to level criticism at anyone, while anyone was hardly credited with his/her successes by media sources.
He also informed that talks and efforts were underway to resume tours by foreign cricket teams in Pakistan, which were currently stalled over bomb blasts here.
The PCB chairman denied that he would opt for the post of ICC (International Cricket Council) president; besides declaring the issue as his private matter. He reminded that England and India had held the post twice, compared to Pakistan’s one time.
He said also said that a different captain, manger and staff was appointed for every series, citing the similar practice as being common in Australia.
But also said that PCB respected senior players, and disclosed that once Shahid Afridi approached him for a leave to visit USA, since his father was unwell. The chairman said that he allowed Afridi to visit USA, while Afridi even failed to make a single call from there.
He also informed that according to the PCB constitution, the chairman tenure is for three years, while he also lauded the ‘ team performance in recent World Cup’.
The chairman also disclosed that he had advised Waseem Akram to coach Muhammad Amir for IPL (Indian Premier League) participation, which Waseem Akram refused. While a similar request made to Saeed Anwar for coaching Salman Butt, and said that Pakistan had plenty of talent.
