Islamabad: The judicial commission on Abbottabad operation headed by Justice Javed Iqbal will meet next week to initiate probe into the US unilateral raid inside Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden.
Sources said that Secretary of the commission, Ms Nargis Sethi, called on Justice Javed Iqbal here on Monday.
They added that Justice Javed Iqbal issued necessary directives to Nargis Sethi regarding the proceeding of the commission.
The commission was constituted in pursuance of the unanimous resolution adopted by the joint-sitting of the parliament on May 13.
Earlier the government had constituted a five-member commission headed by Supreme Court Judge Justice Javed Iqbal, with Justice (r) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, Lt Gen (r) Nadeem Ahmed, Abbas Khan and Ashraf Jahnagir Qaz as members of the committee. However, Justice Fakhruddin declined to sit in the commission, arguing that before it constitution neither chief justice nor opposition was consulted.
However, later the government reconstituted the commission after consulting the chief justice of Pakistan. Â Â Â But Opposition Leader Ch Nisar Ali Khan and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had rejected the commission.
