Islamabad: A suicide bomber blew himself up outsideĀ a private bank in I-8 area of the capital, killing one and injuring five others, sources said on Monday.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Tahir Alam told media that a suicide bomber tried to enter in the bankĀ where a large number of customers were present but the security guard stopped him. He said that the bomber detonated his explosivesĀ when his effort to enter into the bank was foiled by the security guard.
Police and rescue workers rushed to the spot and started relief activities.The dead and injured were shifted to PIMS Hospital where two of the injured were said to be in critical conditionĀ . Inspector General IslamabadĀ Police Wajid Durrani confirmed that the blast was carried out by a suicide bomber whose head had been found .Media reports said that the bomber was a youth clad in Shalwar Qamiz with thin beard. Four-story building of the bankĀ was badly damaged in the blast.
