Karachi: The Sindh government has proposed Rs 1.5 million for a family of doctors who fall victim of targeted killings and infectious disease in the budget speech held at Provincial Assembly on Friday.
The government has proposed salary packages for doctors including increase of their stipend from by 100 percent from Rs 12,000 to Rs24,000 per month for house job officers whereas stipend for General Medical Practitioners has been proposed to increase to Rs 42,500 per month from 12,000.
It also proposed an additional allowance of Rs 15,000 for medical officers of BS-17 and Rs 10,000 for BS-18&20 Grade medical officers.
Non-Practicing Allowance for doctors in BS-17&18 has been proposed to increase to Rs 4,000 per month from Rs 400 while same allowance for doctors of BS 19-20 has been proposed to enhance to Rs 6,000 from Rs 700 per month.
In order to encourage doctors to serve in the rural areas, it is proposed to offer them a special and reformative package of Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,000 to doctors in BS -17&18 and BS-19&20 respectively.
The overall impact of these proposals is set to reach Rs Rs 2.9 billion rupees for the next financial year.
The allocation for judiciary has increased to Rs 3.38 billion with the increase of 35 percent compared with outgoing fiscal year. The increased expenditure will be incurred on creation of 190 new posts and purchase of physical assets and transport for judicial officers.
The Sindh Government has followed the federal government decision to announce 15 percent increase on the basic salaries of its employees and pensioners of its retired officials.
The provincial government did not announce an increase in minimum salaries of the employees from private sector.
