Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Director Muhammad Hanif said lower air pressure in the Arabian Sea would be converted into a tropical cyclone in next 36 hours.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday he said that the Met office was consistently monitoring the situation.” But there is no such system in the world that can predict a cyclone four to five day earlier” he added.
Hanif said that rains were likely in coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan in next two to three days. He said the temperature of the sea where the lower pressure exists 29 degree centigrade while temperature at the coastal areas of Pakistan is 30 to 31 degree centigrade.
“The Met office will continue informing people about the cyclone’s situation” he said.
Meanwhile, media reports say at least 50 boats were missing with 500 fishermen on board from the coasts of Thatta and Badin. Local people said they were not warned about the cyclone .”Had they informed us in time, we would have stopped the fishermen from going into deep sea”. a fisherman told The News Tribe.
