Naushehra: A suicide blast killed at least 19 people and injured 36 others in Naushehra area of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province of Pakistan on late Sunday, police said.
According to local police, the suicide bomber blew himself up in a bakery in Cantt area of Naushehra near a bus stand on Mall Road.
Police sources said that the skull of the suicide bomber has been found from the spot.
Fire erupted in the bakery after the blast which occurred at 8:34 pm (local time).
The injured were rushed to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Naushehra. The number of casualties may rise as many of those injured were in critical condition.
According to rescue sources, four people died on the spot while the remaining people succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Fire tenders of Pak Army rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.
Fire brigades of Naushehra Cantonment Board rushed to the spot, but they came to know after 20-25 minutes that the vehicles were empty.
Pak Army jawans have cordoned off the area and started investigation into the blast. All the lights of the area have been switched off.
Military sources said that it was a planted blast.
DPO Naushehra has said that security measures at the time of the blast were up to the mark. According to initial information it was a cylinder blast, the DPO said.
