Islamabad: Ansar Burney, prominent human rights activist, has said that five million more US dollars have been sent to the Somali pirates.
Talking to a private Pakistani TV channel, Dunya News, on Sunday Burney said that five million more US dollars had been transferred to the account of the shipping company’s owner and the hostages would then be released very soon. He said that the money given to the Somali pirates should not have been termed as ransom; instead, it was given to save 22 human lives.
He said that all that money had been arranged with the combined efforts of the Ansar Burney Trust and Governor Sindh Ishrat ul Ebad. Governor Sindh had been in touch with all the steps taken towards the release of the hostages, he added.
Burney would leave for Egypt from Dubai tomorrow evening and then reach in Yemen.
