Islamabad: Chairman, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator John Kerry said that he conveyed, “as clearly as possible” the grave concerns in US regarding the bin Laden presence in Pakistan and sanctuaries of US and Afghan adversaries here in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference after having extensive meetings with Pakistan military and civilian leadership in aftermath of May 2 US raid, Senator Kerry said that there were tough questions being asked about the US assistance to Pakistan and the event unfolded here in Pakistan.
He said that he was there to find a way out from the current situation. Defending the US unilateral raid in violation of Pakistan sovereignty, he said that US and Pakistan had sacrificed and suffered a lot in the fight against terrorism and no one want these relation to go down.
He said he had explained to General Kayani and General Pasha the circumstances that lead to US unilateral action inside Pakistan, saying that he understand the sensitivities of Pakistan about their sovereignty.
To a question he said that during the meetings with Pakistani leadership there were agreement on three major issues. When asked to elaborate the areas of agreement, he said that as far as the counter terrorism drive is concerned both the country are on same page and both the side agreed to continue intelligence sharing besides agreeing on targeting high-value targets.
