Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that his cabinet decided not to accept foreign aid in a bid to maintain country‘s sovereignty as it was violated by foreigners time and again, referring to US operation in Abbottabad that killed Osama bin Laden on May 02.
Addressing a press conference Shabaz said that the largest province of the country decided to get rid of foreign aid and other provinces would also do so.” We will prefer trade not aid” he added.
He said protest demonstrations, rallies and resolution would not bring sovereignty and integrity rather the country had to get rid of foreign aid. Shahbaz said that the decision of the cabinet would be sent to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for final approval.
He further said that the decision might strain ties with some countries. The chief minister added that US drones were killing innocent Pakistanis instead of terrorists.
He added that the nation was standing beside the Pakistan army in safeguarding country’s nuclear assets.
