Islamabad: Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) General Ahmed Shuja Pasha surrendered himself before the parliament, accepting the responsibility of intelligence failure regarding Osama bin Laden presence in Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan told state-run television that the military leadership briefed the parliamentarians in detail about the Abbottabad operation. She said that the briefing of military officials to the parliament and the question and answers session was underway.
She revealed that DG ISI surrendered before the parliament admitting the intelligence failure. A source told The News Tribe that DG ISI told the parliament that he was ready to face any inquiry or accountability. The sources said General Pasha told the parliament he was ready to be made accountable by any one, Prime Minister, Parliament or by the nation.
Firdous said that the DG Military Operation briefed the parliament about the Abbottabad operation while Air Chief apprised the parliamentarians about the PAF role.
She said that some elements were trying to malign the country’s institutions.
