Washington: Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani has said that the United States has concerned about the hideaway of Osama Bin Laden.
Haqqani said Pakistan would conduct an inquiry into how such an intelligence lapse occurred. He said adding that how Pakistan contribution to fighting terrorism was being ignored while only failures are being highlighted.
He said if American intelligence want to trace Mullah Omar’s location then Pakistani intelligence ready to work together with the Americans to locate Mullah Omar and everybody else connected not only to the 9/11 plot, and also to the whole perception of global terrorism.
He and his embassy was receiving threatening phone calls and emails since Osama bin Laden was shot dead in Pakistan by the US special forces.
Haqqani said the Pakistan government will get to the bottom of it but it an important concern right now was to reassure people in the United States that Pakistan as a nation did not look upon Osama bin Laden favourably.
He admitted that there are people who have been detained, providing support to Bin Laden. The US forces coming inside Pakistan without any information was an infringement of sovereignty, Haqqani said.
“As far as the Pakistan’s political and military leadership is concerned, we understand the need of what we need to do,” Haqqani said.
