Karachi: Oil Tankers Association announced a strike for indefinite period on Wednesday after which at least 90 percent fuel pumps were closed in Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan, as people faced severe shortage, The News Tribe reported.
People were seen hopeless, in search of fuel, in major parts of the metropolis. Fuel on the remaining 10 percent petrol stations were given Rs 130 to 150 per liter that increased further panic.
One of the resident of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed, told The News Tribe that despite oil prices has touched the sky, there was no oil available. He said federal and provincial governments of the country were busy filling their accounts inside and abroad the country.
He said, “it seems that there is no government ruling in the country. In such situation petrol pumps owners also get advantage by taking extra charges.”
Meanwhile, the petrol pump management complained that the shortage was caused due to non supply of oil.
However sources said that talks between Oil Tanker Association and relevant authorities had been remained result less.
At the other hand Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad taken notice of the issue and appealed the association to end the strike.
