Islamabad: Pakistan hockey team has left for Malaysia for participating seven nations’ Azlan Shah Cup which is going to be begin from May 5 to15.
The 18-man Pakistani squad led by new Captain Mohammad Imran left for Malaysia along with Coach Michel van den Heuvel.
World champions Australia, Britain, India, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Korea along with Pakistan are participating in the event.
While talking to media representatives Mohammad Imran said that he both young and senior players, victory in the tournament is expected. He said that all the players wish to beat India in the tournament to take revenge of the cricket World Cup semifinal.
The national hockey team will play its first match against New Zealand on May 5. Pakistan will then face Korea on May 6th, England on 8th and Australia on May 9th. Whereas, The Pakistani team will play against the traditional rivals on May 11 and will face Malaysia on May 14.
