Kandahar: The head of the Afghan jail where hundreds of Taliban militants, including top commanders, escaped this week has been arrested along with his aides, Reuters news agency reported on Thursday.
The news agency quoted sources as saying that General Ghulam Dastgir along with deputy governor and several senior prison managers was arrested following a preliminary investigation.
It further noted that several police officials deputed around the prison on the out skirts of Kandahar city, Â who had been sleeping when the Taliban escaped, were also dismissed for their negligence.
Over 500 hundreds Taliban insurgents escaped along a dirt shaft fitted with lights and air pipes on April 25.
