Sanaa: At least 12 Yemeni protesters were killed and another 160 were injured in clashes with police and government backers in Sanaa, news agencies report on Thursday.
Media reports said that the government forces opened fire on rally of thousands of anti-government protesters, killing 12 and injuring 160, 18 of them were in critical condition after being hit with live bullets.
The  reports stated that the clashes erupted on Wednesday evening after the police forces and government backers intercepted the protest rally, set off from Sanaa University to Al-Steen Street, of thousands of protesters who passed by a square occupied by government backers near the Yemeni television station.
The protesters kept shouting slogans to express their rejection to the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council ) initiative that asked Saleh to leave within 30 days in return for immunity for him and his family members,.
The protesters demanded immediately ouster of Saleh and then prosecuting him along with his aids.
The anti-government protesters broke into the camp of government supporters and attacked them after the clashes erupted.
