Rawalpindi: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday told an-anti terrorism court, hearing Benazir Bhutto murder case that the UK has refused handing over former military ruler Pervez Musharraf to Pakistan.
The hearing was held in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi. The FIA informed the court that the UK authorities told that Musharraf was in Dubai. The FIA also filed an application, requesting the court to declare Musharraf proclaimed offender.
The special judge asked FIA to first return arrest warrants for Musharraf, issued by the court.
Later the hearing was adjourned till May 7.
Musharraf, who was president when Benazir was killed in December 2007 in a gun and suicide bomb attack, is in self-imposed exile in London
Musharraf is alleged to have been part of a “broad conspiracy” to have his political rival killed before elections.
Benazir Bhutto was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi, near Islamabad, on December 27, 2007.
The Anti Terrorism Court, Rawalpindi had issued non-bailable arrest warrant of Musharraf and he could be arrested on arrival in Pakistan, as the warrant remained valid till its revoking by the court.
