Muzaffar Garh: Mukhtaran Mai, a gang rape victim, on Thursday expressing dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court verdict of releasing all accused except one, said that she was not thinking to leave the country.
Addressing a press conference she said that there might be some flaws in the FIR which was lodged against the accused on her behalf, adding that she had no confidence over any court and she would present her case in the court of Allah.
Replying a query whether she would challenge the decision of three-judge bench of the SC, Mai said that she would discuss the matter with her lawyer before taking any such decision,
She said that her family was at stake and the court the government would be responsible in this regard.
Mukhtaran Mai said that though an accused was awarded life term all the accused should be met with same fate.
Mukhtaran Mai was allegedly gang raped in Meerwala village in Jatoi Tehsil of Muzaffar Garh district in Punjab back in 2002.
14 accused was arrested in 2005 and a lower court awarded death sentence to six, exonerating rest of accused.
Later the LHC was moved in the case. The LHC released five accused and awarded life imprisonment to Abdul Khaliq.
The Supreme Court took suo motu notice of four appeals filed by the gang rape victim and upheld the LHC decision.
Taking to media Mukhtaran Mai deplored the SC verdict and said she had no confidence over courts.Human right activists also criticized the court verdict.
