Washington: Finance Minister, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh had a meeting with World Bank President, Robert Zoellick and discussed development partnership with the financial institution.
Dr Shaikh apprised the Bank president of Islamabad’s efforts to reform various sectors of the national economy, achieve macro-economic stability and bring economic prosperity to the people.
Robert Zoellick welcomed the Pakistani finance minister as they exchanged views on economic matters during the semi-annual IMF-World Bank meetings.
The Pakistani delegation during its visit to the IMF have failed to convince the IMF for releasing sixth and the final tranche of $11.3 loan package because of the country had failed to implement the reforms recommended by the IMF.
Pakistan has borrowed more than half of its $50 billion external loans from the IMF, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
