Islamabad: Two alleged French terrorists linked to 2002 Bali bombingĀ were arrested from Lahore airport, Pakistan and French officials confirmed on Thursday.
They were arrested in January 2011 when they Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore from a foreign flight . A Pakistani Ali Tahir received them at the airport. Ali Tahir has also been arrested.
Ali Tahir and the French suspects were stated to be members of Al-Qaeda network.
A Pakistani intelligence employee said on the condition of anonymity thatĀ the French men had intended to travel with Patek to Pakistan’s North Waziristan region where Al-Qaeda’s top command is based. One of the two French militants’ has family ties to Pakistan.
IdentitiesĀ of both the French suspects have been kept secret. Both are stated to be linked with 2002 Bali bombing in Indonesia.
The arrested alleged militants were in the custody of police and investigation is under progress.
