Karachi: Pakistan on Thursday released 89 Indian fishermen, who had been arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Agency for fishing in Pakistani waters.
The detained fishermen have been released form Landhi Jail Karachi who would be sent to Lahore by road and later would be handed over to Indian authorities through Wahga border Lahore.
The list of detainees was given in the meeting of home secretaries of both the countries in New Delhi.
India had released 39 Pakistani prisoners on April 11.both the countries detain each other’s nationals for crossing borders by mistake or fishing by violating international boundaries.
Relations between India and Pakistan remain tense after the Mumbai terror attacks as India suspended peace process.
The strained relation saw a thaw when Indian Prime Minisster Manmohan Singh had invited his Pakistani counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani to witness Pak-India cricket world cup semi-final match on March 30.
