Islamabad: Opposition leader in Pakistan, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, on Monday demanded that the government take the nation into confidence regarding release of Raymond Davis.
He demanded a parliamentary committee or judicial commission to investigate Davis’s release.
Raymond Davis, an American who shot dead two Pakistanis on January 27 this year in Lahore, was released last month after blood money was paid to the heirs of the two men.
While speaking in the National Assembly, Nisar said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of the parliament was for any other Pakistan. He said president Zardari had not spoken a single word regarding national issues and Davis case.
Khan demanded that the government explain to nation what happened in Raymond Davis case.
He said there is no doubt that the murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founding leader of Pakistan People’s Party, was a judicial murder. But advisers of Zia-ul-Haq, former dictator of Pakistan, were also advisers of Zardari, he added.
Khan said masses did not elect rulers to lie down in front of America.
