He announced to continue token strike in solidarity with the Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Punjab. He also announced to call off the strike that was going on for couple of weeks in Islamabad.
Dr. Ajmal said that the announcement was made after a meeting between Secretary Health Nargas Sethi and YDA president in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Islamabad (PIMS) Sajid Abbasi. “Nargas Sethi vowed to resolve the issues and issued a notification within a week, so we today announce to call off the strike for a week, however token strike would continue,” he said.
Young doctors in PIMS had called off strike Tuesday night after meeting with the health secretary but Dr. Muhammad Ajmal who claim presidentship of YDA in Islamabad, had postponed the announcement.
