Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday granted bail to former City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi and Superintended Police (SP) Khurram Shehzad in the Benazir assassination case.
A division bench of the LHC headed by Chief Justice Ejaz Chaudhry heard the after hearing the arguments from both the sides ordered that both the accused be released immediately.
The court ordered both the accused to submit Rs 1 million surety bonds each.The court also seized passports of both the accused.
Bothe police officers were charged with deliberately hosing down the crime scene where the former prime minister and Pakistan Peoples Chairperson Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007, and committing official negligence in duty in the provision of security to the former prime minister under section 120-B of Pakistan Penal Code.
