Lahore: Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has excused from West Indies tour which is going to start from mid of April, Pakistan Cricket Board Sources said.
The sources on the condition of anonymity said that the all-rounder had made himself unavailable for the tour which starts on April 18.
“He will not be going to West Indies as apparently he wants to take a break from the game,” said the source.
The sources said that Afridi wanted to do some rest to release tension after losing a semifinal from India by 29 runs in Mohali on Thursday.
Afridi retired from test cricket in 2010 but had been expected to play in the one-dayers and Twenty20s in West Indies.
Afridi has played 320 one day internationals, 27 tests and 42 Twenty20s for his country. He has been captaining Pakistan in limited-over matches since last year.
Pakistan will play one Twenty20, five one-day matches and two tests in West Indies.
