New Delhi: A new WikiLeaks cable issued released by an Indian Daily The Hindu says that Bhartaiya Janata Party (BJP), leader Arun Jaitley in his conversation with an American diplomat said that Hindu nationalism is an opportunistic issue for the party.
Jaitley in his conversation with Robert Blake said that Hindutva ‘will always be a talking point’ and an opportunistic issue for the party.
Jaitley also believed that in northeast part of the country Hindutva becomes an advantage because of illegal migration of Muslims from Bangladesh. He also said that in New Delhi Hindutva deos not have that big an impact.
Blake also reported that “Jaitley does not have what it takes to mobilise the BJP base.”
Jaitley also predicted that LK Advani would lead the party for another two to three years, after which next generation leader would take his place.
Jitley was also pained on the issue of revocation of the visa of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. He believed that it would have been better for the US to let the Chief Minister visit the US.
