Karachi: The Sindh High Court on Friday took up a petition requesting the court to order prime minister for a fresh vote of confidence in the parliament as the incumbent government had lost its majority in the house.
A division bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Musheer Alam heard the petition and summoned deputy Attorney General on the next hearing.
The petitioner argued that the government did not enjoy support of majority in the National Assembly as the support of 171 members was mandatory for the government while it was having only 167 votes in the house.
He pleaded that the court should ordered the president to ask prime minister for taking fresh vote of confidence.
