Chennai: India beat West Indies in the last group match of cricket World Cup 2011 by 80 runs at Chennai Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Set a target of 269 by India, West Indies were all out for 188. Zaheer Khan took three wickets, while Yuvraj Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin got two wickets each. Harbhajan Sindh grabbed one wicket.
West Indian opener Devon Smith scored 81 runs. Ramnaresh Sarwan scored 39 runs while Darren Bravo and Krik Edwards scored 22 runs each.
Earlier, Indian skipper Mahindra Sindh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. India scored 268 runs thanks to Yuvraj Sindh’s century. He scored 113 runs. Virat Kholi scored 59 runs. Gautam Gambir and Dhoni managed 22 runs each.
Ravi Rampaul got five wickets while Andre Russel took two Indian wickets. Darren Sammy, Devendra Bishoo and Kieron Pollard grabbed one wicket each.
Yuvraj Sindh was declared man of the match owing to his good batting and bowling performance.
