Islamabad: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani condemned the US drone attacks that killed at least 40 innocent people during a Peace Jirga (meeting) in North Waziristan, the tribal area of Pakistan, on Thursday.
He said the attack was an open violation of human rights and national integrity of Pakistan. He said such attacks could not be tolerated at any cost.
He said such attacks could affect the efforts against terrorism.
He directed troops in the area to help the affected families. It is the top most priority of the Army to protect the lives of masses, he said. The Army chief said that there was no reason for such attacks.
