Tokyo:More than 1,000 people were feared dead in the massive tsunami triggered by Japan’s most powerful earthquake which wrought devastation in northeast coastal Japan forcing the government to declare emergency at two nuclear plants after their cooling systems failed. news agencies reported that 217 bodied have been recovered while the toll could be over 1,000.
A ship that went missing in tsunami after Japan’s historic earthquake hit the northeast coast on Friday, has been saved and all the 81 passengers were also saved, while four trains has gone missing yet. There is a danger of spreading atomic radiation due to the fault. While Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has ordered to evacuate all the people residing near around the dangerous places. There is a threat of melt down the reactor plant. The atomic reactors have been increased by 1000 percent as compare with normal condition, Japanese news agency said.
Three hundred bodies were recovered from the coastal area of Sendai while the authorities have confirmed 600 causalities. Thousands of people have gone missing. Traffic, train and communication systems have been paralysed, Japanese media reported.
Five power generation houses have been closed, following Petro Chemical building caught heavy fire in Sendai that is yet to be extinguished.
Japanese Premier announced to set up a task force to tackle the situation, while more than 2,000 people have been shifted to saver points.
America, Britain, China and many other countries have announced aid for Japan, while the US President Barack Obama said that one US naval fleet is already in Japan and another will be sent soon for assistance.
