Islamabad: More than a quarter of Pakistanis (26%) are hopeful that hard work can earn prosperity as opposed to 37% who are skeptical of the link between hard work and prosperity in the country.
This was the result of a survey conducted by a foreign organisation. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: “Do you believe that a child born in a poor family in our country can become rich if he /she works hard?” Nine percent (9%) believed there are a lot of chances of a person to prosper if he works hard, even if he is born in a poor family, 42% said some chances and 37% little chances. 12% gave no response.
A comparative analysis of the data shows that optimism about link between hardwork and prosperity has made modest gain during the last 30 years. The optimists have grown by 6% (from 45% to 51%) and pessimists have declined by 11% (from 55% to 49%), while those unsure about the prospects have also grown by 5%.
