New Dehli: India beat Netherlands by five wickets in the 25th match of cricket World Cup 2011 at Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Yuvraj Singh played a key role in India’s win. He scored 51 runs not out on 73 balls and took two wickets.
Netherlands won the toss and chose to bat. They scored 189 runs in 46.4 overs. Skipper Peter Borren was the top scorer from Netherlands. He scored 38 runs. Tom Cooper and Eric Szwarczynski scored 29 and 28 runs, respectively.
Zaheer Khan got three wickets. Yuvraj Singh and Piyush Chawla took two wickets each.
India reached the target in 36.3 overs. An upset seemed likely when Pieter Seelaar picked up three wickets to reduce India to 99 four 4. But then Gambhir and Yuvraj steadied the innings. Gambhir went back at 139 with his individual score at 28.
Yuvrag Sindh was declared man of the match.
