New Delhi: Some three dozen Tibetans have been arrested, protesting outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi to mark the anniversary of the failed uprising that sent the Dalai Lama into exile, Indian police said.
The police said that the protesters attempted to charge the embassy Wednesday but were blocked by officers.
Police officer Rajender Singh said the protesters had been detained for questioning and would be released later Wednesday. The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has lived in the northern Indian town of Dharmsala since fleeing Tibet following the failed 1959 uprising against Chinese rule.
