Geneva: The International Educational Development is organizing a seminar ‘Defending the Will of the People’ at Palais de Nations in Geneva on Thursday, March 10.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar is co-sponsored by the Association of Humanitarian Lawyers, IIFSO, IHRAAM, WMC, AHRKI and KMMK-G.
The speakers will draw the attention of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that the will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government. They will also discuss how to persuade the Council to appoint a Special Rapporteur on the right to self-determination and defending the will of the people struggling against oppression.
The seminar will be addressed among others by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Member of British House of Lords, Lord Nazir Ahmed, IED Delegate to the United Nations, Dr Karen Parker and the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre Washington, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai.
