Islamabad: During third round of talks, International Monitory Fund (IMF) Evaluation Mission has warned government of Pakistan that the deficit will go up to one thousand billion rupees if budget deficit is not controlled.
During the third day of ongoing technical and policy level dialogue between the IMF review mission and government at Finance Ministry on Thursday, the government economic exports told the IMF team that the government’s talks with political parties was continuing about Reformed General Sale Tax (RGST) and the reform process was underway in the energy sector. They further told the team that the honest and intelligent officers were being appointed for the formation of board.
The IMF team was further informed that extra 30 billion rupee increase in the allocated subsidy of 87 billion rupee in the energy sector assured and the national reserves rose to 17 billion dollars, while the export raised the highest level in the country’s history.
The IMF team emphasized over the government to take revolutionary measures for balance of current account deficit.
The fourth round of talks between IMF and government will be held on Friday.
