Islamabad:Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to part ways with the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Punjab Government.
Addressing a press conference after a party meeting here on Friday PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif said that his party has announced to part ways with the PPP in Punjab as the latter had failed to implement 10-point reforms agenda.
Nawaz Sharif said that the government had not made any progress to the 10-point agenda adding that he had given three years to the government to address the problems which the nation was facing since long.
He said that his party wanted to strengthen democracy in the country, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari had broken many promises, including restoration of Judiciary and ouster of the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf saying that the promises are neither verses of the Holy Quran nor the Hadiths
Nawaz alleged that President Zardari wanted to give constitutional cover to Nov 03 measures of former Pervaiz Musharraf ,adding that government did not accept the independent judiciary with open heart.
The former premier said that Asif Zardari had remained reluctant to restore judges despite he become president, adding that he and his brother Shahbaz Sharif was declared disqualified for contesting election by using “Dogar Courts”.
Nawaz maintained that he had asked the prime minister to implement the 10-point agenda by 30 percent not for 100 percent but to no avail.
He added that the main demands of the PML-N were to follow Charter of Democracy and independence of the judiciary, adding that his party was playing the role of responsible opposition not a friendly opposition.
Nawaz noted that unemployment was increasing in Punjab due to gas shortage in the province while the government had not taken measures to cope withe the energy crises.
Replying a query regarding the Unification bloc, dissident group of PML-Q, he said that the members of bloc were his loyalist and allotting of  separate to them was not illegal.
He said that demand of midterm election was not unconstitutional, adding he hopes that the government would mend its ways after the PML-N’s decision.
He told the reporters that his party was compel to remove the PPP from the Punjab cabinet as 295 out of 300 of the participants of the PML-N meeting  voted in support of parting ways with the PPP.
All the top leaders of the PML-N were present on the occasion.
Sources told The News Tribe that the notification of the PPP Punjab Minister would be revoked today.
In the meeting, Nawaz Sharif conducted voting on the proposal for ousting the PPP from the Punjab cabinet. The proposal was supported by 350 participants, while only 10 members voted against it. The ratio was 98 percent.
