Islamabad: Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has ruled out providing the kind of immunity to Raymond Davis which US called for, adding that the suspect is not a diplomat in Pakistan.
Talking to Pakistani media , Qureshi said that according to Pakistan’s official record Raymond Davis was not a US diplomat as foreign ministry has searched out complete documents, dismissing likelihood of immunity for suspect which US demanded from Pakistan.
At the other side scheduled high-level meeting among US, Afghan and Pakistani officials this month has been postponed, the State Department said on Saturday amid a deepening diplomatic rift over a US man locked in a Pakistani jail accused of murder.
State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said the decision to scrap the February 23-24 meeting had been taken “in light of political changes in Pakistan and after discussions with Afghan and Pakistani officials in Washington.”
Meanwhille Pakistani journalist Javed chohdri disclosed “Shah mahmood qureshi wanted raymond davis prosecuted by law but president wants to give him diplomatic immunity that is why qureshi has been left out of new cabinet.”.
