An apparent assassination attempt was thwarted on Al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden a month ago by American forces using a device that could send signals to the satellite to locate and for an air strike on the notorious leader, who has about 25 million dollar head money by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“The Al-Qaida leadership is proud of its technical wing which used its expertise to discover a 5 mm chip fixed in Universal Serial Bus (USB), that was meant to reach our leader for an interview” said Abu Al-Fatah who called The news tribe’s correspondent from an undisclosed location.
American forces are heading a strong batch of over 150,000 NATO forces in Afghanistan, fighting Taliban and Al-Qaida militants for control of that country. The forces are engaged in battle every day looking for Mullah Omar and Bin Laden, the two heads of the world’s most fearful organizations.
Al-Fatah said the “conspiracy” to murder Bin Laden apparently originated in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, where a man of western appearance, identifying himself as a correspondent for an American based international television channel, made contact with a local Al-Qaida operative requesting that he be allowed to interview the head of Al-Qaida in Afghanistan.
“We refused his request because we were suspicious of his presence in Sudan and his interests in Afghanistan”, Al-Fatah said.
“when are refused, the journalist , who called himself David Noshkay, then sent a request that the interview be done without his appearance in person and he sent a USB with his questions, asking that we record interview of the said leader of Al-Qaida on camera and save it on the electronic stick.
Al-Fatah said his organization double checks all electronic equipments, especially if it is meet for a presentation before the Al-Qaida head.
Such a process, he said, is routine and mandatory for approval for an interview with the leader.
“When our technical wing starting assessing the device, found a 5 mm chip stuck in it. We investigated the chip and found out that it provided signal to satellites that allowed airstrikes that are being used to bomb Taliban and Al-Qaida dominated villages and cities in Afghanistan”, he said.
Al-Fatah works eclosed an almost similar case when assasins used the media cover and success fully carried out an attack on Ahmed Shah Masood, who till than commanding a Northern Alliance in Afghanistan.
“The Al-Qaida leadership has now decided that our leader will not entertain any further requests for television and radio interviews”, Al-Fatah said.
The Al-Qaida spokesman, who did not say, where he was calling from, said all interview requests for newspapers will be thoroughly assessed more than before, for approval. The call lasted for two minutes before Al-Fatah un up the phone.
Allied forces in the past, successfully used the chip technology, signal provider to satellite, to take out Al-Qaida and Taliban leaders in Afghanistan.
