Colombia: The Colombian navy has seized a boat carrying over a ton of cocaine along the Pacific coast of Choco Province as the country accelerates anti narcotics operations.
As navy personnel chased the speed-boat on, two of its occupants dived into the sea and escaped, but the third person was arrested, state-run TV reported on Monday.
A navy official said that the cocaine seized from the speedboat was worth around US$ 30 million.
So far this year, the navy has seized about two tons of cocaine, in Pacific waters alone, the official said.
Drug traffickers often use the dense jungle areas of Choco to launch boats loaded with drugs heading for Panama and beyond.
