Leads: A northern group of charity leaders met in Leeds this month to discuss their strategy under the leadership of The Ad-setts Partnership (TAP), a new initiative launched in 2010 to prepare mid-sized third sector organisations for the emerging changes in commissioning practice across the public sector.
Dr Mohammed Ali OBE along with other charity leaders met with the Chairman of TAP, Sir Norman Adsetts OBE. The event was chaired by TAP’s Group Chief Executive, Philip Bartey, who said, “The structural deficit is being tackled by the coalition government and undoubtedly this will lead to cuts in provision across the UK with an impact on resources available to the Third Sector.
“The Third Sector needs to respond urgently to ensure that vital support for vulnerable groups can be maintained, with an increase in the quality of provision by working in collaboration to share resources and provide holistic responses to meet the growing demand. TAP is harnessing the combined strengths of a key number of strong players across the northern region to provide greater financial clout, increased geographical coverage and a diversity of response that few charities are able to provide by working in isolation.”
TAP is aiming to develop stronger links with both the public and private sectors to achieve a greater focus of collaboration and targeting of resources. Working groups are being established to develop the exciting emerging strategy.
The event was sponsored by Grant Thornton and held at their Riverside offices in Leeds.
