Peshawar: At least eight people have been killed and 26 othersĀ injured in a suicide car attackĀ in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa province of Pakistan on late Friday night, said security officials.
Security sources said that the incident took place inside the Kohat Tunnel when a suicide car bomber carrying 500 kg explosive material hit a oil tanker.Ā As a result, eight people including two women were killed while 26 people were also injured in the attack.
The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be ascertained.
The bodies and injured were rushed to District Headquarter Hospital Kohat and Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.Ā The hospital administrations said that death toll may rise as a few injured received severe injuries.
Security officials reached the spot and cordoned off the area and started interrogation into the case.
Partial curfew has been imposed on Kohat Tunnel Road.
