Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and across the world are observing Indian Republic Day as Black Day today (Wednesday).
The occupation authorities placed senior All Parties Hurriat Conference (APHC) leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Shabbir Ahmed Shah under house arrest in Srinagar while a curfew like situation is being witnessed in the Valley.
A complete strike is being observed in occupied Kashmir with all business establishments, offices, banks and courts remaining closed
The Black day is being observed to remind the international community that India’s continued denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic.
The Call for the observance of the Day was given by the All Parties Hurriat Conference leader Syed Ali Gilani and other prominent leaders.
Kashmir Media Service reported said that the deployment of Indian police and CRPF troopers has been strengthened around the Bakhshi Stadium, the main venue of official function, and other vital installations across the Valley.
