52 percent population of world is female, but patriarchal society is treating it unfairly, harassment, corporal punishment, sexual assault and slander are frequent to women. This is worldwide issue, western world, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and other European countries have almost hundred literary ratios, and women are not less educated than men. But woman even in those countries is not getting due value, she does not have involvement in all fields. She is considered fragile, less competent and narrow minded. Developed countries rush to regulate laws and overtures to protect female gender, but molestation is still rampant. Words are limited to seminars, conferences and meetings.
Pakistan is sixty years old, but it has not determined correct strategy and understanding towards many fields, woman is also one of them. In Pakistan, woman is nothing but physical attraction, manager of house, and hardworking if she is allowed to work. Pakistani woman lacks reason, this perception dominates man.
Man rules woman, he is biased to her and she is his property, the observation woman holds. Intellectual women argue Pakistani man is afraid of her, he has inferiority complex, and this is the reason, he tries his best to restrict her freedom and creates obstacles on her way to progress. Main threat man feels is her permission to do job.
In Pakistani society, boy is preferred to girl, no matter Islam gives preference to female child. She starts to get damaged mentally, morally and spiritually from childhood. Pakistani woman is not getting any relief. On the contrary, her torture is at par excellence.
In past ten years, fifty percent crime against woman has increased. Million women have fallen prey to kidnap, rape, honour killings and others. Physical torture, honour killings, and wani are not unusual in our society. Man is responsible for many actions, but price woman pays. Though Supreme Court has banned Jurgas, Wani and honour killings, the society wants time to implement court orders.
Undoubtedly Islam has given equal rights to men and women, but traditional man looks hard to enact them. Woman demands nothing but implementation of right she has been given by Islam. Same is for her in democracy. If Pakistani society has to develop and progress, it has to accept fair and equal rights of women, and besides, it has to adopt equality in all fields, it has to fight against fascism and cruelty wherever it prevails and finally it has to pave way for social change that could meet requirements the society has. I do not want to end with pessimism, I am sure that the society will overpower negativity.
