Karachi: Differences between federal and provincial governments exposed on Monday when Home Department’s spokesman Sharfuddin Memon told media that no curfew is being enforced in the affected areas of the metropolis, where several people have lost their precious life during last week, while Federal Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday had announced that a semi-curfew would be imposed in the affected areas.
Rehman Malik while talking to media at the Karachi airport had said that commandos would be landed in certain areas to arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crimes, adding that during the operation a partial curfew would be imposed in the areas.
Panic gripped the metropolis following the statement of Malik and the city wore deserted look.
Sharfuddin Memon told a private TV channel that no curfew would be imposed in the city, adding that law enforcement agencies would cordon off the areas, where they would launch an operation against criminal elements.
He said that police and the Rangers would conduct snap checking and raids on the basis of intelligence information.
