Islamabad: Azam Khan, Chairman Judicial Commission formed by Supreme Court to probe into dykes breaches during the last year’s devastating floods, said that the commission would meet on January 22.
He said the commission would summon chairman flood commission and four provincial irrigation secretaries to record their statements before the commission.
He said the commission had the mandate to summon any one.
Azam khan said that the SC had given two months time to the commission to complete probe into the dykes breaches, however, he said it might take more time to complete the investigation.
He said the probe would be carried out as per the guidelines of the SC.
It may be mentioned here that a three member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftekhar Muhammad Chaudhry had taken notice of the alleged deliberate breaches in the embankments during the devastating floods of the country’s history and set up a four member judicial commission comprising Azam Khan, former Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, A. K Lodhi, Fateh Khan and Khuwaja Zahir .
