ISLAMABAD: Former Afghan President and Chief Afghan Peace Commission Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani has said, “Afghan Talban are our own people and dialogue with them is essential for the peace of Afghanistan, Pakistan and the region.
While expressing his views Monday during an interview to a private TV channel he said that prolonged series of suspension of political disability between Pakistan and Afghanistan should be come to an end. Peace High Council, formed to control unrest in Afghanistan cannot play its due role unless Pakistan’s cooperation.
He has suggested an inquiry commission to eliminate ongoing distrust between Pak-Afghan relations.
Rabbani thanked Pakistan for its support during the “Afghan Jihad” despite of several hurdles. My visit to Pakistan, in regard with seeking support for Peace High Council, has been welcomed by the government of Pakistan and local political parties.
He said that he is seeking for reconciliation with Pakistan. We are taking all these measures to gain our primary goal that is maintaining law and order in Afghanistan.
There is not a single person in Afghanistan, who tolerates the presence of alien forces in his motherland; he said adding that the Talban and Al-Qaeda have their separate agendas. We want conversation with local powers not Al-Qaida.
Responding to a question he said that after initiating the process of reconciliation among Afghan stakeholders, we are ready to welcome any third country including Saudi Arabia, turkey and other countries.
He believed and affirmed that the point of view of Pakistan regarding to the influence of India in Afghanistan.
