ZURICH: Argentinean and Barcelona forward player Lionel Messi, 23, won the 2010 FIFA Ballon D’Or award for the second consecutive year on Monday.
Messi defeated Barcelona teammates Andres Iniesta and Xavi Fernandez, both had outstanding performance. The Ballon d’Or merged with FIFA’s world player of the year award for the first time.
On the occasion Messi said,”I’m surprised to win but pleased to be here with my friends.” To win it makes it even more special. I want to share it with all of my friends, my family, all the Barcelonistas and the Argentinians.”
